Library Welcome Book Search Policies Resources Philosophy Department

Policies

Borrowing
Borrowing is restricted to faculty, staff, and graduate students in the UIC Department of Philosophy.

To borrow a book, fill out one of the index cards you will find near the "Reserve" area with your name, the author and title of the book, and the date. Leave the card and take the book.

The official borrowing period is one week; in practice you can keep the book longer if no one else requests it. To request a book that is currently borrowed, send a message to the Librarian. To find out if a book is borrowed, look it up in the Book Search section of this Web site.

Returns
To return a book, simply leave it on the Librarian's desk in the Library.

Food and Drink
Please help keep our Library tidy by abstaining.

Meetings
Please do not hold meetings in the Library. It is meant to be a "quiet" place and available at all hours.

Security
The Library should be locked whenever it is not occupied. No one should be in the Library except Philosophy Department faculty, staff, and graduate students, or their guests.
